Anyone working with smartPerform will sooner or later come across a number of terms that may seem technical or abstract at first glance. To make it easier to get started – or to refresh your existing knowledge – we explain the most important terms that you will encounter when creating and designing your own user interfaces with smartPerform in this blog post.
From nodes and snap targets to single focus – here you will find out what is really behind it all and how to use the functions effectively.
General terms
Portal: Area in which all content of the smartPerform interface is placed.
Logic Designer: Can be used as a tool for visual programming.
Editing/CMS mode: Mode in which the smartPerform interface is created and edited.
Simulated presentation mode: Preview of the final result without being able to make changes. Switch to CMS mode possible.
Presentation mode: smartPerform starts in full screen in kiosk mode. It is not possible to switch to CMS mode.
Contents
Container: Folder with additional content at lower levels.
Widget: For displaying and displaying extensions, e.g. traffic information, weather or RSS feed.
UI element: Elements that react to user input such as buttons or checkboxes.
Nodes: Elements with specific content such as containers, widgets, UI elements or files.
Focus Variants
Depending on your requirements, you can choose between the focus variants “Zooming focus”, “Single focus” and “Multiple focus” at the start of project creation. You can find the settings for this under “Toolbox” > “Config” > “Presentation” > “General”.
Zooming Focus:
Node opens with a zoom animation. The previous layer remains visible in the background.
Single Focus:
Node opens to fill the format. Optionally, a color or background image can be defined.
Multiple Focus:
Not format-filling. Can be scaled, rotated and moved. Different nodes can be opened in parallel.
Position Content
Right-click in the background of the portal to open the context menu. To create new snap targets, zoom position targets or guides or to edit existing ones, you must go to the respective editor via the context menu in CMS mode.
Snap Targets
Precise positioning and creation of a layout for closed nodes.
Zoom Position Targets
Define in which position and size multiple focus nodes open.
Guide Lines
Create a visual orientation for aligning, placing and designing all elements. Show and hide by right-clicking.
